DO HOMESCHOOLERS LACK SOCIALIZATION OPPORTUNITIES?
No matter what city, county, or state, there is that one dreaded sentence every homeschooler will eventually hear.
It is this: "What about Socialization?"
You would think that there are many more questions that could be asked....but alas...NOPE! The same, recycled...socialization concern.....that is actually NOT a concern for most homeschoolers, but a concern of those who DO NOT homeschool. Which if you think about it, is... well...odd.
It is odd simply because while we are at a park, and the kids are playing, engaging, the parents ALWAYS ask me what school my kids go to due to their etiquette and great mannerisms. When I say they are homeschooled, the next thing out of those same parents mouth is "what about socialization".
In my head I am like "Well, you are currently socializing with them, and found it appropriate, and proper." That is the meaning of socialization!
For those individuals...I would love to explain away your fears, and concerns. I would love to give you a lesson on English terms and sentence structure.
But if I did that...it would interfere with the real time "socialization" that the kids get to experience through their golf lessons, horseback riding, traveling, investment lessons, math lessons, spelling bees, clothing design, sewing, jewelry designing, art projects, cooking, science, hiking, museum visits, gymnastics, dance, bird watching, business start-ups, and the many more adventures that we, as homeschoolers, have the great honor of experiencing, together as a family. Hope you understand.
